Serbia, in large part, which is in a valley of Moravia, is often described as a “crossroads between east and west”, which is one of the main causes of its turbulent history. The route across Serbia, which avoids the more mountainous terrain, is the easiest route overland from Western and Central Europe to Greece and Asia Minor.

European route E65, E70, E75, E80, E662, E761, E762, E763, E771 and E851 crossroads in Serbia. E70 and E75 are in large stretches of highways or roads expressways, or slightly short of such a standard.
